Rand Paul's Injuries Could Complicate GOP's Agenda

"It's not clear when senator can go back to work after 5 fractured ribs, lung contusions."

(NEWSER) – Sen. Rand Paul has painful injuries, including five fractured ribs, after being assaulted at his Kentucky home Friday and it could be a while before he can go back to work, a spokesman says.
Paul "has five rib fractures including three displaced fractures," adviser Doug Stafford said in a statement to the Bowling Green Daily News.

"This type of injury is caused by high velocity severe force. It is not clear exactly how soon he will return to work, as the pain is considerable, as is the difficulty in getting around, including flying."
Stafford said the senator is also suffering from lung contusions caused by the displaced fractures, and "this type of injury is also accompanied by severe pain that can last weeks to months."

Politico reports that if the senator does end up being absent from Washington, DC, for a significant amount of time,
it could complicate the legislative agenda of Senate Republicans, who have a slender majority of 52 votes.

I'm somewhat surprised that Rand wasn't packing a CCW with him.  Yes, even at home.  'Course, this asshole blindsided Rand, so if you don't know the guy's coming, it's tough to get the handgun out.

Whether due to Boucher's hit or Paul's consequent impact with the ground, this is consistent with Boucher tackling Rand Paul quite violently.

It's a bit surreal. We're discussing how and why Rand Paul was injured, and DU-folk are talking about how Rand Paul deserved to be assaulted and how long it will keep Rand Paul away from DC.

It's not exactly what it sounds like. Michigan State University has a school of osteopathic medicine, and I know several grads of the program. I'm not sure what the differences are--I think it's mostly philosophical.

My primary care doctor is an osteopathic doctor.  Decent guy, good head on his shoulders; but the oncologist that I had probably doesn't share my opinion of him . . .

The simplest explanation of the differences is a DO promotes treatments that allows the body to heal itself when practical while a MD is more likely to feed you a pill.
