Seattle's 'gay' mayor enjoyed nice run at outrunning accusersIt's quite possible that
Seattle's liberal mayor survived numerous accusations of sexual abuse because he is an open homosexual, says a Christian author and speaker.
Author and researcher Dr. Michael Brown says the support for Murray, despite the lurid accusations, would normally seem odd unless you take
one particular fact into consideration.
"Were people hesitant to act on this
because he's gay?" Brown asks. "Would they have acted more quickly if this was a heterosexual case? That's my big concern."
Murray remained in office, in fact, even after the Times obtained the social worker's report and published a July 16 story describing how
Oregon Child Protective Services concluded that Murray abused his foster son, Jeff Simpson.
As mayor of liberal Seattle,
Murray pushed through an ordinance that would punish Christian business owners for refusing to participate in same-sex wedding ceremonies and lobbied for domestic partnerships for homosexual couples.
"If he's a champion for gay activism," explains Brown, who has written extensively about the gay rights movement, "
you don't want to expose him as being guilty of one of the worst stereotypes of a gay sexual predator."
Peter Labarbera of Americans for Truth says
sex scandals from homosexual politicians are common and never receive the scrutiny they deserve. He adds that Oregon officials sat on the records for months likely due to the alleged perpetrator named in them.
