What Will Happen to Republican Congressman and Senators in 2019
« on: September 13, 2017, 05:59:08 PM »
I'm thinking 2018 will be a slaughter for "do-nothing" republicans in congress.

I don't think democrats are going to have a "great message" for voters in 2018 but rather republican voters will be so bummed-out that voting in 2018 will like going to the dentist. I have put off the dentist for years but voted almost every time.

So this is what I see congressional republicans will be doing in 2019;

Paul Ryan and John Kasich team up to start illegal alien support group
McConnell will become Chuck Shumer's chief of staff
Jeff Flake starts organization to "tear down that wall" (Mexican border wall)
Sen Susan Collins becomes president of Planned Parenthood
Sen Murkowski starts drive to sell Alaska back to Russians
Sen. Bob Corker retires
Sen Lindsey Graham retires
Sen. John McCain is laid to rest in Arlington

Repub incumbents will be Primary'd out, by non NeverTrump newbies.

Who's going to vote for the Democrat-brand and all their angry, air-headed, anti-American crap?

'Party-switching' is a myth, given the current goings-on.

I'll admit, with no shame or embarrassment, that I've been an unabashed establishment Republican all my life.

During the Republican primaries of 2016, I constantly reminded other Republicans of the necessity for them to enthusiastically back the eventual Republican nominee, whoever it was, because generally any (R) is more palatable than the other party's alternatives.

Donald Trump wasn't my first choice, but after he became the choice of a majority of Republicans, he became my choice too, and enthusiastically so.  And to this day I remain enthusiastic about him.

Now I've been busy reminding Republican candidates for various offices that it'd be a good idea if they got with the program with Donald Trump if they want to be re-elected next year.

After all, how hard is it for a reasonable person to dislike Donald Trump?

My Rep is pretty safe, he's been in a couple of terms after taking over from a family dynasty (Who were OK too)  and the chances of a Dem taking this district are pretty remote.  Out state's GOP Senator has four years to go, the Dem one is up this time and i just hope the party doesn't blow it in the primaries by picking the least electable foot-in-mouth Evangelical woo-woo they can find, like they did last time.

I think that when the dust has settled on the 2018 election, the Republicans in the Senate will have a filibuster-proof majority.  Not all of the newbies will be establishment Republicans; not all of them will be up-and-coming Trump allies.  I think that the Republicans will have a razor-thin majority in the House.  There's an eternity between now and November 6th, 2018, so all of this prognostication is idle chit-chat right now.

That would be beautiful, but I don't think there's much chance of them getting to sixty.  Just IMHO.
