Trump announces ban on transgender individuals serving in military

President Trump tweeted Wednesday that the U.S. government will not allow transgender people “to serve in any capacity in the U.S. military.”

In a series of tweets, he wrote:

"After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow...Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming..victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you."

It will take a miracle of God to now enforce this policy in a PRO GAY/TRANSGENDER military, and probably would be judged "discriminatory."  But it will lose him Caitlyn Jenner support.  MAKE AMERICA STRAIGHT AGAIN!

Via NY Post:

President Trump tweeted on Wednesday that “transgender individuals” should not be allowed to serve in “any capacity” in the US military.

“After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow …,” he wrote on Twitter.

“Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming …”

He finished up by writing: “victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you.”

His comments are a significant change in the stance he took last year during the presidential campaign.

Trump Says Transgender People Will Not Be Allowed in the Military

WASHINGTON — President Trump announced on Wednesday that the United States will no longer “accept or allow” transgender people in the United States military, saying American forces “must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory” and could not afford to accommodate them.

Mr. Trump made the surprise declaration in a series of posts on Twitter, saying he had come to the decision after talking to generals and military experts, whom he did not name.

In 2016, fomer Defense Secretary Ash Carter ended the historical ban on transgender people serving in the military, and since then the individuals have been serving openly within the different brances.

Carter cited a study by the RAND Corporation think tank saying there were about 2,500 transgender active-duty service members and 1,500 reserve transgender service members.

Last month, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis approved a six-month delay in allowing transgender recruits to join the U.S. armed forces.

Earliar this week, the USS Gerald R. Ford became the first U.S. carrier to be equiped with "gender neutral" bathrooms, with all urinals being removed and replaced with sit down toilets.

"This is designed to give the ship flexibility, because there aren't any berthing areas that are dedicated to one sex or the other," Operations Specialist 1st Class Kaylea Motsenbocker told Navy Times. "So if this space was needed for males, we could shift the females to other berthing areas and make this all male without any modification being necessary."

Upon christening the warship, President Donald Trump said the $12.9 billion aircraft carrier will send a "100,000-ton message to the world" about America's military might when it is ultimately deployed.

Reaction from Republican lawmakers and conservative groups:

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

"The president's tweet this morning regarding transgender Americans in the military is yet another example of why major policy announcements should not be made via Twitter.

The statement was unclear. The Department of Defense has already decided to allow currently-serving transgender individuals to stay in the military, and many are serving honorably today. Any American who meets current medical and readiness standards should be allowed to continue serving. There is no reason to force service members who are able to fight, train, and deploy to leave the military-regardless of their gender identity. We should all be guided by the principle that any American who wants to serve our country and is able to meet the standards should have the opportunity to do so-and should be treated as the patriots they are."

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.

"The commander in chief has a lot of latitude here. I don't know what the policy proposal is. I don't know why he decided what he did. But I think the right thing to do here is to have a hearing so we can hear from both sides."

Celebrities Melt Down over Trump’s Transgender Military Policy: ‘You Just Pissed Off the Wrong Community’

Hollywood stars took to social media Wednesday to express outrage over President Donald Trump’s announcement that transgender people will not be allowed to serve in the U.S. military, reversing former President Obama’s decision last year allowing them to do so.

The news spurred some stars to viciously attack the president, with some calling Trump a cruel bigot.

Star Trek actor and gay activist George Takei sent what appeared to be a threat to Trump, warning that he “just pissed off the wrong community” and said the president “will regret” this action.

Takei also tweeted: “History shall record that you are not only the stupidest, most incompetent president ever, but also the cruelest and pettiest. #Shame.” The actor also issued a call to action: https://twitter.com/hashtag/TransRightsAreHumanRights?src=hash

Director Paul Feig called Trump’s decision “disgraceful,” while noted Trump-basher and actor Rob Reiner called the president a “hateful human being.”

Below is a roundup of the rage Hollywood stars sent toward President Trump in the wake of his announcement.

Trump: Transgenders barred from military service 'in any capacity'

Already, there are as many as 250 service members in the process of transitioning to their preferred genders or who have been approved to formally change gender within the Pentagon’s personnel system, according to several defense officials.

The Pentagon has refused to release any data on the number of transgender troops currently serving. A Rand Corp. study estimated that there are between 2,500 and 7,000 transgender service members on active duty and an additional 1,500 to 4,000 in the reserves.

Transgender service members have been able to serve openly in the military since last year, when former Defense Secretary Ash Carter ended the ban. Since Oct. 1, transgender troops have been able to receive medical care and start formally changing their gender identifications in the Pentagon’s personnel system.

But to develop policies to allow people already identifying as transgender to newly join the military, if they meet physical, medical and other standards, and have been stable in their identified genders for 18 months. Military chiefs recently announced a delay on allowing transgender people from enlisting.

Key concerns include whether currently enlisted troops have had medical or other issues that cause delays or problems with their ability to deploy or meet physical or other standards for their jobs. Military leaders also want to review how transgender troops are treated, if they’re discriminated against or if they have had disciplinary problems, the officials said. They were not authorized to discuss internal deliberations publicly so spoke on condition of anonymity.

Trump's tweets on military transgender ban send Pentagon aides scrambling

President Trump's tweets banning transgender people from serving in the military set off a mad scramble at the Pentagon Wednesday morning, as officials raced to sort out the details after the surprise announcement.

It appeared initially that no one in the building had any idea that the president was unilaterally ending an Obama-era policy, which had allowed transgender troops to serve openly since last year and called for a plan to recruit transgender individuals to serve.

Skittish public affairs officers were afraid to talk to reporters, who pressed for details. Did Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, who is on vacation, know about the president's decision before it was announced? Did this mean thousands of transgender troops who were told they could serve openly would now be kicked out?

Asked about rumors that the Pentagon was blindsided about the announcement, one public affairs official told the Washington Examiner, "I think the reports are pretty accurate that no one knew. I certainly had no idea."

By midday, Pentagon officials were quietly saying nothing would change until they received official guidance from the White House.

An end to 'transgender silliness' at the Pentagon

A national defense analyst is praising President Trump's decision to ban transgendered individuals from serving "in any capacity" in the armed forces – and a constitutional attorney predicts any legal action against it would have a difficult case to prove.

Lt. Col. Robert Maginnis (USA-Ret.) is a senior fellow for national security at the Family Research Council. He says it's about time common sense comes to the Pentagon and stops traveling a path "paved [with] political correctness."

"We had under the Obama administration this silliness with regard to transgenders, which was going to [potentially] cost us billions of dollars ... per year with no return on our investment," he states. "So it is time to get a fresh look at everything that the Obama silliness has brought the Pentagon."

The Pentagon advisor argues that it's going to be difficult for left-wing court challenges.

"There's no law in question here," Maginnis tells OneNewsNow. "Under Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution, the rules and regulations regarding men and women serving in the armed forces is a requirement of the Congress to make those decisions."

And that means, according to Maginnis, that until Congress enacts a law that disagrees with the policy, the exclusion will continue.

‘OBAMA POLICY’ CHANGE WH says ‘cohesion’ concerns fueled trans ban

In her first, solo on-camera press briefing since she replaced Sean Spicer, Sanders faced a battery of questions on the president’s abrupt Twitter announcement earlier Wednesday morning. She said the decision was based on “consultation” with the president’s national security team and the Pentagon.

“This decision was made after extensive discussions with the national security team and it was in the military’s best interest to end this Obama policy,” Sanders said. “... This is a very expensive and disruptive policy and based on consultation with his national security team, it erodes military readiness and unit cohesion, and he made the decision based on that.”

When pressed repeatedly Wednesday on what would happen to transgender service members currently serving in the military, Sanders could not say. She said “implementation of the policy” would be something the White House and Department of Defense would “work together to lawfully determine.”

The decision is based on a military decision—not meant to be anything more than that—obviously this is a very difficult decision. It’s not a simple one, but the president feels it’s the best one for the military,” Sanders said.

Some lawmakers including Reps. Steve King, R-Iowa, and Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., backed the president's decision, as did groups like the Family Research Council. But the move drew criticism from past secretaries of defense and lawmakers from both parties.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., slammed the announcement and said anyone fit to serve in the military should be allowed to do so.

Apple, Google and Facebook CEOs slam Trump’s transgender military ban

Executives from Apple, Facebook, Google and Twitter took to social media to denounce the ban, which some labeled as discrimination.

“Everyone should be able to serve their country — no matter who they are,” wrote Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a Facebook post.

Other tech executives, including Google CEO Sundar Pichai and YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, tweeted that they were grateful for the transgender members of the military.

“Discrimination in any form is wrong for all of us,” tweeted Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

It was the latest clash between the Trump administration and Silicon Valley tech companies and executives, who also spoke out against the president’s executive order that barred visitors from six Muslim-majority countries. In June, the Supreme Court allowed parts of the ban to move forward.

More than 50 tech companies also joined a legal brief in support of transgender rights after a transgender student in Virginia was denied access to the boy’s bathroom. The Supreme Court decided not to hear the case in March, sending it back to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Good.  Under Obozo's idiotic policy, the military would have been a magnet for freaks looking for free transition therapy, and every one of the screwed-up messes would've been nondeployable for the duration of any therapy, drug, or hormone treatment...meaning some poor straight or even run-of-the-mill gay/lesbian who was happy with their own equipment, would get to deploy twice for each one of these useless freaks.

Transgender Navy SEAL slams Trump for banning servicemembers: 'Let's meet face to face and you tell me I'm not worthy'

A transgender former Navy SEAL has spoken out against President Trump’s ban on transgender military members, saying he is preventing soldiers from doing their service.

Let's meet face to face and you tell me I'm not worthy,” Kristin Beck, a retired SEAL Team 6 member who has fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, told Business Insider.

Beck, who became a voice for transgender servicemembers to several media outlets Wednesday, added that she does not approve of the flippant way that Trump announced his decision on social media.

"There are a hundred different ways to make an announcement that are better than a tweet. It blindsided millions of people. It's disrespectful," she told CNN.

I was in the Navy from 67 to 71 and served aboard a sub. One of the requirements to getting into sub school was a rigorous mental evaluation to be sure you could stand the mental pressure of being confined in a tight space for extended periods of time. In my opinion someone who can't decide their gender has some serious mental issues.

Just because you believe something does not mean it is true and your delusional behavior should not be forced on other people. I am really tired of all this lgbtxyz bull shit being pushed 24 / 7 and have lost any sympathy for all of them.  The libs and pc crowd need to realize that the majority of people are also sick of this shit as well. :argh: :argh: :argh:

GOPe balks at Trump's transgender decision

A military watchdog says she is frustrated that Republican leaders are criticizing the transgender policy announced by President Donald Trump.

Trump's surprise decision, which he announced via Twitter on Monday, has produced predictable results from homosexual activists and their left-wing allies in the media and on Capitol Hill.

Quote
"There is no reason," McCain said, "to force service members who are able to fight, train, and deploy to leave the military — regardless of their gender identity."

"So if they are coming late to the game," she says of McCain and others, "well maybe they should have gotten there sooner."

But it has also produced complaints from Republicans, including John McCain and Joni Ernst in the Senate, and from House Speaker Paul Ryan.

There was immediate concern when Ash Carter, the former Secretary of Defense, announced the U.S. armed forces were allowing open transgenders, recalls Ron Crews of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty.

There have been millions of man hours spent since then re-training the military about transgenders, he says, and Trump's decision ends that waste of manpower that takes away from combat readiness.

"So now we can let the military go back to what they're designed to do," he syas.

In addition to some GOP leaders opposing any action, it was announced Thursday that no action will be taken by the Pentagon until Trump gives more "direction" about the new policy beyond his tweets.

The next step should be, says Donnelly, that President Trump or Secretary of Defense James Mattis revoke the Obama-era directives, which were written in consultation with LGBT activist groups.

"He has every right to do that," she says of Trump. "He has the ability to do that. This will benefit everyone in the armed forces and everyone who counts on national defense."

A conservative activist says the left's reaction to President Trump's banning transgenders from military service has been over the top.

When Trump tweeted the statement about his ban, left-wing groups immediately played the bigotry card. Then on Friday, dozens of radical LGBT activists staged a protest across the street from where the president delivered a speech on Long Island. And even Republicans like Senator John McCain have questioned the president's decision.

Gary Bauer, founder of the Campaign for Working Families, says the president saw no positive military contribution from the Obama transgender policy.

Bauer, Gary (American Values)"He was deeply concerned about damage that could be caused to unit cohesion, morale, and so forth," Bauer submits. "When you have men and women living in close quarters and under the Obama rules being asked to share showers and bathrooms, that is a very difficult situation to get people used to."

Bauer points out that all President Trump did was restore the policy regarding transgenders in the military to what it was before Obama ordered the change late in his presidency.

"Because the president went back to a policy that existed just 13 months ago, we're seeing the same avalanche of accusations of bigotry ... discrimination, and all the rest of it," Bauer laments. "He did the right thing. Values voters should be happy, and hopefully this will hold up under the inevitable counter-attack that we're seeing right now."

The Campaign founder adds that these same outraged individuals never show any such concern over the VA’s negligent treatment of many veterans.
