These are deep red districts. Democrats are massively overperforming this year compared to historical trends. Republicans can put on a brave face but if these swings are repeated nationwide next year they are in big trouble IMO

And yet, of the 4 House seats for which there were special elections, the Rs won ... 4.

Unlike this year, Part 1: 2018 won't be a special off-year election.

Unlike this year, Part 2: In 2018 these R candidates won't be newcomers. They'll be incumbents (as was the case in many/most/almost all the prior election years cited by EarlG) with name recognition.

The democrats won't be able to pour in as much cash to each midterm contest as they did these special elections. More money was spent on the Georgia campaign than any previous contest and they still couldn't get close.
