How do I download videos?

My question exactly.

You'd have to use third party software. YouTube doesn't provide that as an option.

Okay then, what is one looking for--this "third party software"--and where can one find it?

I use keepvid.com.  Copy the URL for the video on the site and download whatever version you want.

Thanks; I found another one--it's free so I dunno how good it is--and I'm hoping to try several different versions, to see (hear) which one works best.

There are plenty of good ones. There are a few that addons to most browsers that you can use from Chrome or Firefox or whatever.
