Female Canadian soldier who fought with Kurds against Isis says they are just 'a thorn in the side'

Quote
A Canadian woman and soldier who has been fighting Isis in Syria has said they are "a thorn in the side" and a "knuckle-dragging pigs" in combat.

Hanna Bohman, who also goes by the name Tiger Sun, joined the female fighting battalion of a Kurdish nationalist force in Iraq in March last year.

From her experience of fighting the extremist group, Ms Bohman said the West's perception of Isis as a powerful force is misleading.

If Hanna Bohman is saying is ISIS is a thorn, than ISIS could be stopped. What is interesting is she says that ISIS is a front group for Turkey's President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan to exterminate Kurdish people.

I'm waiting to see if Putin really has proof that Erdogan has been collaborating to buy oil from ISIS and that is why he left the border open.

After all, that is why Obama is letting his terrorist Muzzie brothers in this country.

Thing is, no matter how bad they suck, the people fighting them (Except the Kurds) suck worse.  And we won't back the Kurds because it pisses off the governments of Turkey and Iraq (Also Syria and Iran, but that's not so much of an issue to us).

The well-trained armies in the region, like Jordan's, are not going to fight a protracted, high-casualty war far outside their borders to carry other people's water, partly for the obvious reason that our alleged leaders don't want to either, so why should they, but also for the much-more-practical reason that they all have internal threats that we don't, and moving their own armed forces out of their territory opens a Pandora's box of internal problems and enables the fanatics on their own turf.  For that matter, even the soldiers in those regional armies aren't going to see why they should risk their asses outside their borders just because far-away American politicians want ISIS fought, but not enough to risk the lives of American soldiers on the game.

Iraq is starting to act kind of hinky about even trying to get Sunni territory back from ISIS and is making noises about not really wanting us there in any greater force than we are already.  Syria finally has a modern army helping it - a Russian one - and given the entirely-trumped-up crusade against Assad, I don't see Syria welcoming in any NATO forces on the ground.

Special operators are a great tactical weapon, especially so when you have total air dominance and can insert and extract at will, very sexy, but they're not a strategically effective weapon.  They're great at coming in, blowing up a bunch of stuff and killing a lot of people, and then they split.  But they don't hold onto territory (Army Special Forces, alone of all the different flavors, do have a mission to integrate and stiffen the indigenous forces, but are crippled in really doing that by 'Not in direct combat' command guidance and ROE in training/advisory missions).

You can tell that most of ISIS is an armed rabble from the video you see of them.  But only a modern First or Second World army is actually going to be able to take advantage of that and hand their asses to them.  Currently it looks like that will ultimately be the Russians, though ISIS looks to be in last place on their 'To do' list.
