Eh, he's in the process of moving out of that state.  NJ Property taxes are awful, but PA's taxes are almost just as bad.

Isn't NJ the state that has the ridiculous, 'Exit Tax'?

Wow, he's boasting isn't he?

It is average for here in the Dallas area.

There is a LOT of funny stuff there -- the hypocrisy is palpable.  But THIS one I loved:

My mom has been paying Arkansas property tax for more than 50 years, and her folks paid it for 35 years, so she and they certainly have paid their fair share

So "fair share" has a time test -- who knew? Property taxes pay by and large for ONGOING expenses.  If you house catches fire tomorrow, you need Firemen then, not back when you paid "your fair share" for it.

Me too, Carl.  It's a shitload of money for normal people.  I cannot stand property taxes.  It causes old people to lose their houses.  How heartless can you get?

I just looked it up.  They do have an exit tax.  What an awful state.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the celebrities in NJ pay no property tax because they put emus on their property.  They find every type of loop hole to avoid taxes.

61. If that's your year's bill, I'd like to pay that.

I wrote a check yesterday for $1,704.55, but that's just one payment out of 4 that I pay during the year for a total of $6,818.20.

It's not that I object to supporting my town's schools, fire and police etc., but my town comes up with more ideas on how to spend our tax money than I can count.

And it's always explained away by the argument that it ONLY adds X amount of dollars to our tax bills.

All those X amounts really add up over the years.

All the no brain celled idiot,DUmbfuks that rant on that thread about how it is terrible because a wealthy entity should be paying instead need to read that post, although it might as well be in a foreign language to them.

Few have a quarrel with taxes that can be shown to fund legitimate civil needs.
It is when taxes collected to pay for schools do nothing but enrich and bloat a public employee union, full of do nothing dues payers with nothing to show for it,that  the makers of the country revolt.

This DUmbass perfectly describes liberal government,a creature that exists to feed and expand itself.
No doubt it is still too stupid to realize its own knowledge because it prefers to be a victim that wants wealth poured on it just for existing.

119. Lets be honest, you don't actually own your house in America

Even if you "pay down" your house, if you don't pay your property taxes, guess what? County seizes your house.

The most you can hope for if you "pay down" your house is that your just merely reducing your rental payments, hopefully to a low amount.

Yet you post on a site that wants governments to do nothing but grow and grow all the while thinking some unknown "rich" person is going to pay for it.

Stupid ****.

What do you want to bet that he was somehow able to skip paying that tax bill in previous years ?
Or, that he owes even more in property taxes that he has no intention to pay.
How is he poorer ?
According to libs paying taxes makes everyone richer.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

As we all know, threads like these put the liberal mind on full display. Taxes for thee, not ME!

They are the biggest hypocrites on the planet when it comes to taxes. Anything that taxes them is 'regressive', no matter their income level. Anyone who makes a dollar more is 'wealthy' and should be taxed out if existence.

**** them.

Is Austin a liberal/commie/democrat cesspool? I don't know enough about Texas to know this for myself.

LOL -- yes.  It is a single rathole in Texas (although Dallas and Houston are getting close).

The only thing that makes Austin worthwhile is BEG lives there.

Rockford has always had a history of crazy expensive property taxes. Some other areas are catching up. One friend of mine is paying over 4K in property taxes on a modest home in Moline, IL with not much of a lot.

In the 80's my parents were paying over 2k a year on a home on 1.3 acres in a rural area. The current taxes are now 5K.

I could never afford the home I have now if it was in one of those areas.

In Indiana, by state law, property taxes are limited to a percentage of the assessed value. In my area, it runs at 1% or less. My assessed value is low at this time because it has not been re-appraised since 2003 and I have made many improvements that the assessors cannot see from the outside. When we decide to sell, that will change.

14. It can be counted as corporate welfare when corporations are tax free to lure them in

Some areas try to get corporations to move their operations in by giving tax incentives - no property tax, no corporate taxes. Say a Walmart is invited to your area on the condition they pay no taxes at all for 10 years - who is going to make up the difference between what had been paid on that property and what is now not being paid? Everyone else.

That is "corporate welfare" - and it's not happening just in Texas.

So, the employees that would get jobs, taxes, no?

Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”
